Cost
A ten (10) week class for the 2011-12 year costs $95. That is only $9.50 per night, for an hour and a half class. This is probably the best deal in town!Social Program
Our Social Program consists of four dance levels, Social 1, Social 2, Social 3, and Social 4. We have changed our curriculum this year, to DVIDA. Our Social Program corresponds to DVIDA levels, Pre-Bronze, Intermediate Bronze, and Full Bronze for Social 1, 2, and 3. Social 4 is the equivalent of American Silver. The Club does not offer certification in any of the four levels. Students choosing to obtain certification must do so at their own cost, on their own time. We have made this change so that students who would like a DVD of dance steps can purchase one on-line at the following link: http://www.prodvida.comSocial 1
This class is perfect for newcomers. Social 1 will give you the essential introduction to American Style dances. You will learn the basic patterns and work on timing, leading and following. Students are strongly encouraged to take Social 1 for at least two years.
Social 2
This class is designed for intermediate dancers and adds more challenging patterns. You will work on improving your lead and follow skills and pay more attention to footwork, leg and hip action, rise & fall, posture, frame and styling. This class will make you a good social dancer and fun partner. Students are strongly encouraged to take Social 2 for at least two years.
Social 3
For this advanced Bronze level you must have a very good understanding of the dances and be able to dance a variety of patterns with different partners easily. Your technical abilities are more defined. You will learn more elaborate patterns that challenge you further while still improving those skills that give you the "wow" in your dancing.
American Silver
Auditions Required (2011 Sept 8 6:30-7:30 Grace Presbyterian Church - 1009 15th Ave SW)
This is your introduction to the Silver level of dance. All of the lessons you've taken in the Social 1,2 and 3 levels prepare you for this stylized level. The smooth dances become more flowing with the introduction of continuity techniques and the rhythm dances show more pizzaz! If you have completed the Social 1,2 and 3 levels of dance, Social 4 "Silver" is the next step in your dancing journey.
International Program
Our International Program consists of four dance levels. The Club does not offer certification in any of the four levels. Students choosing to obtain certification must do so at their own cost, on their own time.International Pre-Bronze
This dance class is a beginner class in the International Style. Students are strongly encouraged to take Social 1 and Social 2 for several years, and then take Pre-Bronze for at least two years. Students should be able to start on time to the music, maintain proper dance frame, and know many different dances and patterns prior to taking this class.
International Bronze
This dance class is an advanced beginner class in the International Style. Students are strongly encouraged to take Pre-Bronze for two years, or take Social 3 for several years and then take Bronze for at least two years. Students should be able to start on time to the music, maintain proper dance frame, and know many different dances and patterns prior to taking this class.
International Silver
The Silver class is designed for intermediate International Style dancers, who have taken several years of Bronze and are ready to advance their skills even more. A certificate at the Bronze level is desirable, but is not required. The Silver steps are more challenging, and in addition to the new steps, you will also work on improving your lead and follow skills and pay more attention to footwork, leg and hip action, rise & fall, posture, frame and styling. Students are strongly encouraged to take Silver for two or three years before advancing.
International Gold and Above
Our Gold class is designed for advanced International Style dancers. For this level you must have a very good understanding of the dances and be able to dance a variety of patterns in each dance with different partners easily. Your technical abilities should be well defined and applied to the Bronze and Silver steps previously learned. The addition of intricate Gold patterns, combined with a higher level of styling, showmanship and technique, will keep you challenged for years to come.
Country Program
Country 1This class is perfect for newcomers. Wear your blue jeans and cowboy boots to this class. You will learn the basic patterns and work on timing, leading and following in all the country dances. Students are strongly encouraged to take Country 1 for two years.
Country 2
Country 2 is an intermediate to advanced class, which adds more challenging patterns and skills. You will also work on improving your lead and follow skills and pay more attention to footwork, frame, connection, timing and styling. This class will make you a good social dancer and fun partner. Students in Country 2 can learn new material each year, as the patterns are changed each year.
